Jazz Syllabus: Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano and Ensembles
During 2003 exams have been introduced for Grades 1 - 5 Jazz Clarinet, Alto & Tenor Sax, Trumpet and Trombone in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Penang only). It is planned to make the exams available at certain centres in other countries as and when practicable.
The existing requirements for Jazz Piano (Grades 1 - 5) and Jazz Ensembles remain unchanged, with one exception. Jazz Piano candidates should note that an additional aid has been incorporated for all candidates choosing to perform the quick study test by ear: in order to help establish a clear harmonic foundation for the test, before the first playing of the test passage, the examiner will play an initial chord.
