Thailand Celebrates
The 25th anniversary of Associated Board examinations in Thailand was marked by a grand celebratory concert at the Thailand Cultural Centre in Bangkok on June 23rd. Khun Chorlada Bunnag (who was herself celebrating 25 years as the Board's representative in Thailand) organised the event and proceedings were generously sponsored by the Robinson Piano Company. Chief Executive Richard Morris attended on behalf of the Board.
The concert was overseen by Master of Ceremonies Seesom Eamsanpang, a radio producer and Associated Board theory examiner. The youngest concertmaster in the history of the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Siripong Tiptan, conductor Chulayuth Lochotinan and Chief Orchestra Manager Damrih Banwitayakit all lent their considerable talents to the event.

Over ninety selected musicians who had achieved high marks in practical examinations since the first Thailand assessments in 1972 performed during the course of the afternoon. A 25th Anniversary Orchestra was assembled for the event to perform Richard Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg Overture and Alexandra by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and a varied and exciting programme of solo and ensemble performances also included pieces by Beethoven, Bach, Chopin and Wagner.
