Syllabus News: Access Update
Access update
Much progress has been made during recent months in the development of support materials for candidates with special needs: new Braille and Aural Repetition tests for blind and partially-sighted candidates, and alternatives to the Aural Tests for deaf and hearing-impaired candidates are now in production. The revised tests are the result of an extended period of research and consultation with key educators in these sectors. We have also benefited from the generous help of the teachers and students who piloted the tests.
The revised tests will be used in practical exams from January 2007 and specimen tests will be available in September to give teachers plenty of time to prepare their students. Look out for more information in the next issue of Libretto.
We have also developed audio files demonstrating how an amanuensis can act as reader, scribe or both in a theory exam. The sound clips allow you to eavesdrop on candidates tackling some of the questions at Grades 1 and 5, and show the general approach we expect at all grades, whether from our own trained team of amanuenses or from one provided by you. Listen to the amanuensis audio files.
