Washington High Scorers celebrate achievements with a concert
On January 6, 2007 Washington State celebrated the achievement of it's exam candidates by hosting an ABRSM High Scorers’ Concert. The concert took place at Sherman Clay Pianos Recital Room in Bellevue, Washington and featured performances from the 36 students who achieved Merit and Distinction results in their Practical Exams taken during October to December last year.
The concert brought together a whole community of performers, students, teachers and parents, giving everybody a chance to share their musical talents, tastes and experiences.
Given the large numbers participating and attending, the concert was split into two parts - Grade 1-3 candidates performed at Session I, and Grades 4-8 performed at Session II.
Performers described their thrill at being able to perform their pieces in public and those pianists taking part were delighted to have the opportunity to play a wonderful Steinway piano, provided by Sherman Clay Pianos.
The highlight of the evening was, of course, the presentation of High Scorers badges in recognition of each candidate's achievement. For the first time in Washington State, special awards were also given to the Top Scorer from each grade.
The concert generated a fantastic atmosphere and a great deal of positive feedback from teachers and parents who felt that it had helped to energize and encourage their students to pursue their future musical aims and ambitions.
