Linking policy
ABRSM evaluates all suggested links, taking into account the following criteria:
- Content of linked sites must be of value or relevance to the key audiences of the ABRSM website (i.e. music teachers, music students, parents of music students and people working for ABRSM)
- Site content should complement the existing information offered on the ABRSM website.
- ABRSM reserves the right to annotate any list of links that we produce. We will not seek editorial approval on any comments we wish to make from the external body concerned.
- Visitors to the linked site must be able to view the ownership of the site. The site owner must take full responsibility for the content of their site.
- We will consider linking to private sector/commercial websites containing information or services that we deem useful to the key audiences of the ABRSM website and where such information is not available from non-commercial websites. The decision will be at the discretion of the webmaster. We reserve the right to refuse a link if it will have an adverse effect on any commercial partnership of ABRSM.
- Graphical links or logos are not normally accepted. In instances where we do choose to allow them, graphical links and logos will be the subject of a clear written agreement. In such cases, the links must be supplied by the owner in an acceptable size, weight and format.
Criteria for not accepting a link include:
- Websites still under construction or incomplete
- Websites of which the ownership is uncertain
- Any request or requirement for payment for the link
- Doubts over the accuracy of the information provided
- Websites that exist solely or mainly for promotional reasons
- Websites that are not updated with sufficient frequency
- Websites that advocate membership and are password protected
- Any website of which the main content consists of links to other websites
- Any website containing offensive material
Disclaimer of endorsement
Links to external websites provided on the ABRSM website are provided solely for our visitors’ information and convenience. In following a link to another website, users are leaving the ABRSM website and are subject to the privacy and security policies of the owners of the linked-to website.
ABRSM does not endorse, approve, certify, or control these external websites and is not responsible for their contents. Reference therein to any specific commercial product, process, or service by trade name, trademark, service mark, manufacturer, or otherwise does not constitute or imply endorsement, recommendation, or favouring by ABRSM.
