Jazz Practical Grades - UK and Ireland
We’re making some changes to the way we provide face-to-face Jazz exams at our Public Venues (ABRSM Jazz Visits).
Jazz Practical Grades are assessed by specialist examiners and this means we need a minimum number of candidates before we can send an examiner to a venue. Following a careful review of entries in recent years we are making the following changes.
Starting from the 2024 summer session will be offering face-to-face Jazz exams at fewer venues. Some will be available for all three sessions and others will be available for the summer session only. There are also some venues where we are no longer offering Jazz exams.
We are planning to provide a confirmed list of venues and dates for Session 2 ABRSM Jazz Visits before the booking period and no later than 16 April, when booking opens.
Venues where we plan to offer Jazz exams in all three sessions: ABRSM offices (London), Bristol, Cambridge, Ealing, Edinburgh, Hexham, Leeds, Liverpool, Muswell Hill, Oxford, Sheffield, Southampton, Stockport, Sunbury, Sutton Coldfield, Tunbridge Wells, Wimbledon, Windsor/Maidenhead
Venues where we plan to offer Jazz exams in the summer only: Belfast, Brighton, Cardiff North, Dublin, Exeter, Ipswich
Venues no longer offering Jazz exams: Aberdeen, Barnes, Blackheath, Blandford Forum, Canterbury, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Southend on Sea, Stroud, Woodford, York
For schools and music education organisations, Jazz Practical Grades are also available at a Private Visit at your own approved venue. You’ll need at least one hour of Jazz exams and the total examining time for the whole visit must be at least three hours.
For an alternative to face-to-face exams, our Jazz Performance Grades are digital exams that are available on-demand. You can book them at any time and record the exam at a time and place that suits the candidate.
