Our new podcast for the musically curious
We’re excited to share our new podcast series – Start Here.
Hosted by our Artistic Director, Alexis Ffrench, each of the ten podcast episodes focuses on a different style of music, inspiring listeners to expand their playlists and explore a diverse range of genres. From Afrobeats, musical theatre and stadium rock, to jazz, hip hop and K-pop, Start Here will provide opportunities to discover and learn about an amazing array of musical styles.
“We’ve got fantastic guests and great discussions lined up,” explains Alexis Ffrench. “I’m really looking forward to helping listeners discover the incredibly rich variety of music featured over the series.”
Start Here covers everything from the origins of grime with author Jeffrey Boakye to the direction of classical music with organist Anna Lapwood. Other episodes feature thought-provoking and entertaining conversations with Christian Adofo, Vivian Yoon, Shanay Holmes, Yazz Ahmed, Shaad D’Souza and DJ Semtex, as well as country music aficionado and veteran DJ Bob Harris and bhangra stars Punjabi Hit Squad.
“We’re really excited about the series,” adds ABRSM Deputy Chief Executive Penny Milsom. “It’s an opportunity for us to hear from people passionate in their own fields, and to open our ears and hearts to different music.”
