Singing

Quick Study DipABRSM, LRSM, FRSM

From August 2007, there are two small procedural changes to the Quick Study test for Singing candidates, which are detailed below. The details have also been included in a reprint of the 'from 2005' syllabus booklet.

Firstly, as a preparation aid, all Quick Study tests for singers are now printed with a simple piano accompaniment, which candidates may use if they wish, to any degree of fullness, during their five minutes’ preparation time. During this time, candidates may also play any part of the vocal line at the piano.

However, the actual performance of the test remains unaccompanied, although there is still the provision for candidates to relocate their pitch by playing a guide note (from the vocal line), as appropriate. Candidates may also use the piano to play the key-chord and their starting note before performing the test. Please note that the examiner(s) will not assist candidates as accompanist, nor will any other party be permitted to.

Secondly, candidates will be offered a choice of singing to English or Italian words.
