Concerns following an exam

Exam concernsIf you wish to raise a concern with ABRSM about exam day procedures, venues or results, please read the information below.

UK Practical grade exams

A) Cause for concern on the exam day

i) Procedural concerns

In order to resolve any procedural concerns about the exam itself, prior to the issue of results, we need to be contacted within seven days of the exam. Where possible please email all correspondence using the contact link below. If you do not have access to email, please call +44 (0)20 7467 8285.

ii) Exam venue complaints

All complaints concerning any environmental issues to do with the examination, venue, or facilities for exams, should be emailed to us within seven days of the examination. Alternatively, you can call us on +44 (0)20 7467 8205.

B) Cause for concern about results

i) Feedback outside the Formal Marking Appeal Procedure

In cases where Applicants, parents or candidates wish to provide informal feedback about an exam, the UK Feedback/Appeal Form should be completed. Guidelines to help with the correct completion of this form are provided.

All feedback should be received by ABRSM as soon as possible and no later than 6 weeks after the date of the exam.

ii) Formal Marking Appeal Procedure

To make a formal appeal against the marking of a UK Practical Grade exam, please complete the UK Feedback/Appeal Form. Guidelines are provided to help with the completion of this form. Appeals concerning the validity of results must be addressed to the Quality Assurance Manager for Grades and sent to The Quality Assurance Office, ABRSM, 24 Portland Place, London W1B 1LU.

All appeals should be received by ABRSM as soon as possible and no later than 6 weeks after the date of the exam.

UK Diploma exams

All concerns regarding Diploma exams should be addressed to the Quality Assurance Manager for Diplomas and either emailed to our Quality Assurance team or sent in writing to The Quality Assurance Office, ABRSM, 24 Portland Place, London W1B 1LU.

ABRSM aims to acknowledge the receipt of all correspondence within three working days and to respond with the outcome of any complaints, appeals or feedback within three weeks.

International exams

All concerns relating to non-UK exams should be addressed to your local Representative.
