Preparing for Performance
A one-day workshop for all instrumental and vocal teachers, presented by Carole Jenner-Timms.
Who is it for?
This workshop will be of interest to teachers of all instruments and levels who regularly prepare pupils to give performances, whether they be auditions, festival performances, concerts or graded exams.
What will I learn?
This workshop begins by considering the different types of performance situations, what all the elements of a performance are and the benefits that your pupils can draw from the experience of performing.
You will then go on to look at what needs to be considered when putting together a plan for a performance. You'll discuss memorization of repertoire, platform manner and post-performance discussion. You will also take an in-depth look at performance anxiety; what it is, how it can affect performers and a series of strategies for preventing and managing it.
This highly interactive session will contain aural examples of pupil performances to help illustrate key learning points and provoke discussion.
