Just wondering if anyone has tried this beginners book? It sounds a good book and I like the idea of playing duets with the pupil as they learn.
Thanks. |

I can't be any direct help, I'm afraid, and I love Mike Cornick in general, but I have the Clever Cat goes on Safari book and I really don't like it.
It's marked easy to middle-grade but all the pieces are about 2 pages long and are at least grade 2 level, if not grade 3, which doesn't really tie in with the stickers and baby/funny animal pictures. I realise the beginner books might be different though . . . . PS In the Hal Leonard beginner books (and the PA I think) there are teacher duets for every song, and really good ones too. |

Have used Clever Cat- reminder as must have another go at it as i haven't had this one out for a while- more as an improvisation/picking tunes up by ear and practical application of grade 1 scale patterns, I don't think it's a tutor book as such but fun add on in lessons. I agree with the post about the other Clever Cat books, lovely idea but tunes too difficult for age group pictures suggest, and older children might be rather put off by the drawings- much as I like them! |
