I am looking to create an ABRSM special visit for my students aimed for late September - early October 2012. I have four piano students to put forward (8th, 5th, 3rd and 1st graders). I have a venue with a piano (private home) in London.

However, I would need to team up with another teacher to cover the minimum requirement for a three hour visit. Is there anyone out there who fits the bill and would like to team up?

Many thanks in advance
Sharona

It might help if you can say which part of London you are in.

I'm unlikely to have any exam pupils for Autumn.

Hi there,

Thank you all for coming back to me so quickly.

I am situated in South East London, Lewisham borough (more specifically Catford). We could conduct the exams in my house. My only concern is that it isn't particularly large (the downstairs floor consists of an open space living room/dining room) . As candidates have to wait in a separate room, they will have to probably go into our study upstairs. So not sure how convenient this would be for students and their parents waiting their turn. However, the offer still stands!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If any of you have alternative suggestions for exam venues I am all ears. We (myself and my students) are willing to go anywhere within the London area, so not really restricted to any one venue.

However, lets start at the beginning, by establishing first how many students you each have to put forward for the suggested period, and which grades your students are at. This will help us calculate the overall time we need. Once we have a definite count of students, and are sure we can cover the minimum requirement of 3 examining hours, we could go ahead and think about logistics. Does this make sense?

We could all potentially put forward students' houses (with parents' consent of course) as well as our own as possible exam venues. So, as I see it, the venue issue is not of paramount concern at this stage.

Looking forward to hearing back, Sharona

Ah, Catford : large black and white cat on the shopping centre and all that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I've potentially got one student (a grade 2 clarinettist - 14 minutes), who wasn't quite ready for this session. I see her later today, I'll let you know what she says. The other student who'll definitely be ready for then unfortunately is a theory candidate, sorry! And any others will need a bit longer.

Ah thanks for the reply, unfortunately Lewisham is a bit too far for these I would think. The all live around West/West Central London and probably wouldn't go that far. Good luck with organising everything!
