Good idea for a thread! Perhaps this would be good as a pinned thread? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The British Kodaly Academy Summer School details are in the process of being finalised - I'll post here as soon as I have them.

You know what, if I don't buy an instrument at the Early Music Festival in 2012, maybe I can spend the money on a course in 2013 instead...this might be a Good Plan (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

What sort of course do you fancy? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Probably one like Ascot...one where the Early Music Shop will doubtless be in residence tempting me all week long... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

Details of the Summer courses at the Hindhead Music Centre are here http://www.hindheadmusiccentre.co.uk/summer.asp Thanks soccermum. I'll edit the first post accordingly so we have a list in one place (a la B-C's events page) and will add a thread link if I see anyone start one... |

Is anyone planning to go to any Jackdaws courses this year?
I just added the link to the list of courses in the first post of this thread. |

Katica reviving this thread has reminded me - all the information regarding the British Kodaly Academy's Summer School is now on the website - www.britishkodalyacademy.org.
It's from 12th-18th August at Cheltenham Ladies' College. We have four tutors coming from Hungary and one from Holland - the rest from the UK. There will be daily choir and solfege (musicianship) as well as lots of afternoon options including Early Years Methodology, Primary Methodology, Dalcroze, Running a Children's Choir, Piano Pedagogy, Multi-Cultural Songs, Music Listening and more. There is the option to take additional piano and singing lessons with amazing tutors from the Kodaly Institute in Hungary - and one of our main tutors is the Director of the Institute. There are discounts for Early Bird applications and also for the 'Introduce a Friend' scheme. We are also instigating the Cecilia Vajda Memorial Scholarship. Cecilia came to the UK at the request of Yehudi Menuhin and introduced the approach here. She was my first teacher. She died in 2009 and we have set up this scholarship (which will pay for one (possibly two) student's tuition fees) in her memory. Applications have to be in by 13th April. More details about the SS and the CVMS are on the website. *disclaimer* I am NOT advertising myself here!! I am posting this info because many people have contacted me requesting information regarding the Kodaly approach and relevant courses. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Thanks for posting this Cyrilla - I just spotted the 2012 info on the website this morning.
I hope there's interest and if a Kodaly Summer School thread starts up I'll edit the first post list. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) My sister unfortunately has opted not to join me on a day visit because she will have my niece and brother-in-law in tow. Now, if there were a class for toddlers... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

A Summer School for children has long been in the back of our minds, katica! However, the BKA has undergone some major personnel and other changes in the last couple of years and we've had to put all our energies into existing courses. However...watch this space...
