Bargiel's - "Adagio" - a beautiful piece. I have a CD with Steven Isserlis playing it - always transports me somewhere else!

Tassimo, watch Jacqueline Du Pre play the Elgar cello concerto on Youtube. You'll learn something (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) too!

Also a wonderful piece is the Hofmann cello concerto, see Sol Gabetta play a section of it in rehearsal on YouTube.

Now you have your re-nowed cello book by Tortelio (sorry cannot remember how to spell his name) - you will be fab-u-lus.

Anyone remember him - he used to give master classes on t.v. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

How about some jazz, Tassimo?

Search Youtube for the Rastrelli Cello Quartet playing 'Take Five'. They're excellent. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Do you mean Paul Tortellier? He was pretty good (understatement!) In fact, just buy his EMI recordings box set, that pretty much covers the bases for standard Cello repertoire (no jazz though...)

Wow.....JC have you been moonlighting! Have you had a go at this piece?

They are great and an absolute inspiration. I think that I wouldn't mind have a go at some jazz now.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Heh heh! I thought I'd give it a go ... in a few thousand years. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) But they're great aren't they! I sent the link to my teacher, who also really liked it. I'm looking forward to getting a bit better, so I can start to improvise on the cello. Right now, though, I'd be happy if I got first position intonation right now and then. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
