Has anyone else noticed the current trend for TV adverts to use "folksy" cover arrangements?
There's Jimmy Cliff's "Hard Road to Travel" covered by Rachel K Collier, Angus and Julia Stone have a go at "You're the one that I want" from Grease, and Two of Us have taken "The Rainbow Connection" apparently made famous first by Kermit the Frog. The re-arrangemnts all seem very similar to me, and I'm not really sure it's a good advert for the folk music genre. I expect there are plenty more covers that I've missed. Any opinions? |

The best TV ad on at the moment is for a well known energy company. It involves a little bouncy orange toy, and I want one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I've just heard 'Don't Leave me This Way', in a slow, folksy version - for Polyfilla! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Another one!
Haven't seen it yet, but by someone called Lindsey Clearly, apparently. I'm thinking of "collecting" these covers as a pointless project for this year ... |

I like the new Stella Cider advert. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
It seems likely that all alcohol advertising will be banned, which is a shame, as the licensed trade seems to create some of the best adverts on television. And they don't make me want to drink any more, or any less than I do at present. Who did the 'bouncing beach towel' advert around the time of the Football World Cup (with very obvious references to the Dam Busters)? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Ahh. Just found it on You Tube (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) SB |
