My cat hated my violin when i started, but now loves it. She seems to like the romantic/slow pieces and i think she thinks i am playing them to her! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I thought this was because of the improvement of my intonation over time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

She tries to play the violin by rubbing up the strings. Weird!

Now, she loves to play the piano as well.

Perhaps she should do her grade 1? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Thats great isn't it. My little cat likes playing with all 4 feet though, she does not like using 2. She likes the scales too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) . She tends to stay clear of the black keys! But does make use of the full range of the key board.
Talking about animals becoming musically proficient, birds sing beautifully sometimes! I would like to see a monkey on double bass!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well we dont have animals, but it seems appropriate to mention baby granddaughter here. (she is 20 weeks old - see my temporary profile pic). Yesterday she heard a violin for the first time, when my wife happened to have it out when she arrived. First a big grin (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) appeared on her face , then she absolutely went into giggle mode ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Of course her Mum and Dad, Grandad, Nan and great Nan, laughed all the more and it became infectious. She was quiet when the music stopped, and she started up again when it started. So far she had been smiling a lot but only giving us the odd chuckle.
We were in hysterics (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rofl.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rofl.gif)

My cat always makes a point of wandering past me when I am playing violin , and anyone I am playing with at the time, pianist, cellist, waving tail in time with music, miaowing LOUDLY then looking for the comfiest case to lie in, usually mine see pic. (he's a big cat but manages to "shrink" himself to case size).

He also likes to be sung to, I have tried out different styles and songs (although my singing is not great) and Moon River is currently his favourite........please tell me I am not daft LOL (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Our local robin perches on the fence and sings his heart out if he hears me on the piano -- obviously thinks I'm invading his territory, especially if I play anything particularly high and fast. I sometimes have to use the practise pedal as I'm afraid he will blow a gasket.

And now, the update I know you've all been waiting for! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

My cat's no longer afraid, and has even "slept" through an entire practice session in the same room (admittedly with an annoyed look on his face)! I suppose they just get used to it, or at least prefer slightly more advanced repertoire. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
