Duh! Why Didn't I Notice That Before?, Thread for those slow on the uptake Options

Ever have those moments where you suddenly realise something that should've been obvious for ages, but that you somehow completely failed to pick up on?

If so, please share. I want to know I'm not the only one!


I'm in the middle of typing up the March edition of my list of stuff to practice and it suddenly occurred to me that there was probably a connection between "Lang - Tuba Tune" and "Score-reading - Lang". Now feeling rather stupid and wondering why I didn't think of that when I first started learning the Tuba Tune a few weeks back.

ok, i've never told this to anyone because tis quite shameful. But when i was VERY young and had already started to learn piano, i didn't realise that when you have a 'dotted crotchet'...etc, the 'dot' was actually adding a half of the note to the actual note. I always knew what they were and how many beats they were worth but never thought about it that way.

The connection is that the composer (who I thought I'd never heard of before) of a piece of music that I started learning, is the same as the guy who wrote the Score-Reading book I've been plodding my way through for months and always refer to by his surname!

And it's taken me an awfully long time to notice....

If you need it in piano terms, I guess it's a bit like realising that a pianist you encountered a few weeks ago is the same person who wrote a book about the piano that you've been referring to on a regular basis for the last few months.
