I don't know if this has been covered before in this forum but a friend of mine went to John Bonham's grave in the West Midlands (he was the Led Zeppelin drummer) and found it covered in drum sticks from all over the world.
Has anyone else made a pilgrimage to a musician's grave or birth place and if so what did you find there? |

I went to Beethovens' grave in Vienna a few years ago. I laid some flowers over the railings. On the grave was a manuscript in plastic covering...it had still got wet though, so couldn't make out what it was. And a beer bottle! Not a musician ... but I went to see Ishiyamadera in Japan, where the writer Murasaki Shikibu lived and worked.

Haha, I thought we'd had a thread on this recently, so I hunted it down here - turns out you started it Ed the Tread (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (I don't know why that amused me so much, but it did!)

Not exactly a pilgrimage, but just remembered that I went to visit Salisbury Cathedral years ago and found Holst's grave. |

We went to Lourdes a couple of years ago. We were holidaying near the Pyrenees and decided to pay a visit. My wife's a churchgoer and I'm not, but I felt a sort of...I don't know...aura about the place, which my wife didn't feel at all. So that was strange. My Mum's religious too, so we got her a bottle of Holy Water!!

While on holiday in Munich we took a trip into Austria to visit the Aachensee which was the model for the first home of Elinor Brent Dyer's Chalet School.
