Right the pieces are done and two are very good!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
He knows all the scales but it is unlikely they will be perfect as he is not consistent - could get them right, could foul up one note. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Chromatics - has memorised the hardest one but it's slow Doms/Dims - can do them but needs to think for more than 30 seconds about the notes but once playing finds them easy. Sight-reading - (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) but will at least get 7 marks at the moment! Aural - (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) but should get some marks currently even if it would be an overall fail. So could he pass? I know, a bit difficult to say but some wise teacher could give me a rough indication. Did I mention he can't fit in any practice next week! |

2 good pieces = 25 + 25, not so good piece maybe 20 = 70 marks
Being fairly pessimistic Sight reading 10 Aural 10 Scales 10 = 100, pass. |

Feeling some low level tension beginning to creep up.
DS cannot practice the bassoon at all next week. The following week is half term and he will be chained to his bassoon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) but after that he will be lucky if he has six practice sessions before his exam and he won't be able to fit everything in with each session. I would love to find an exam that just examines pieces! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |

There is also the LCM Leisure play exams where I think you play 4 pieces. |

You're approaching it from a pianist's perspective, I think, Lilly763. Wind players have to work on tone and breathing correctly to produce a beautiful sound. They also need to play in tune. This tends to be achieved by playing long notes and scales and playing into a tuner. I don't have to tune my piano every time I use it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
