Hiya
I have just noticed one of my reeds is so warped I'm surprised it didn't break! I was wondering if there was anything that can be done to either prevent or repair this? Thanks, Rosemary14 |

What do you mean by "warped" exactly?
Is it sort of 'wavy' or 'crinkle cut' at the tip... and does that go away as you wet it and play it? Or is it just distorted? Do you put your reeds away in a holder that keeps them flat when you finish playing? Sax reeds wrinkle then 'settle down' or at least they have for me so far (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) |

The reed is just wavy at the end, and stays wavy. It's impossible to play. I'm very disorganised with reeds- They're all over the house, although most are in some sort of cover, like the ones that come with vandoren reeds.

Hey, I think you should have a look at this site
Reed Care Products Look at the Reed GUARDS (these keep your reed straight) and also Reed CASES (these provide a safe place to store reeds) Ben (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Hey Rosemary14, You dont need to a £30 one as that is a ridiculaous amount to pay. Take a look at the La Voz IV Reed Guard for alto it is the 14th item down. It holds 4 reeds and dry them out and prevents them from warping and costs £2.98. That item though is for Alto Sax reeds (not sure what sax you got) the tenor reeds one is below. You will propbably be able to find the same thing for your clarinet reeds aswell

I usually end up doing the cooking if at all possible, and accusing of trying to burn everyones dinner when those dumb sausages make the fire flare up! |

Oh dear. I get the impression this thread has gone just slightly off topic.... I think I will burn all future warped reeds!
