I had a message from the local rep today sayong she had incorrectly received a letter from the exam board for me from ABRSM saying that my exams next Wed... 23 candidates starting at 9:30am have all been deleted- all 23 candidates. I haven't heard this from the board- the exams are still listed BUT the examiner hasn't contacted me. I;ve never had an examiner contact me so late. I am going to try to ring the board tomorrow- let's hope they are working..... but.... has anyone had anything like this before? The letter definitely is about the exams at MY house..... about 6 teachers get together to make these visits.....

I've never had candidates deleted but I have had an examiner contact me for a special visit two days beforehand. I always phone the Board if I havent heard a week beforehand, and sometimes they admit they haven't got an examiner arranged yet. They usually say carry on and make your arrangements, the examiner will fall in with them.
I hope you get things sorted out.

I have an examiner allocated to me on the list.... I'm hoping the exam board may be there tomorrow....

I don't really understand how they can delete all the candidates without telling any of the teachers?

I hope you get it sorted out quickly. Perhaps the examiner they had allocated has fallen ill?

I really hope the day hasn't been cancelled! There is a grade 8 candidate who has been practicing with an accompanist who lives about an hours drive away, parents who have taken the day off, a child with aspergers who is visiting the exam room this morning etc etc.... and if it has been cancelled why tell the HR, and not teachers and me, the host of the visit! Grrrrrr......

Now I can't access the online page where the appointments are......

Clari Nicki - I really feel for you - I'd have a stomach ulcer the size of an egg by now.

BUT don't fear the worst, there's nothing (presumably) you can do this weekend but wait and talk to them on Monday. Things might well be fine and you'll have been stressed out for nothing.

All the best . . .

There was someone at the board today..... she looked on her systems and said it all looked ok but she can't be sure as she's not the main office..... so she has emailed the examiner telling him to contact me and has left a note telling the board to contact me on Monday .... breathe.......and almost relax.......

Thank you for your concern... i will update when I hear more.... I didn't sleep very well last night!

It will be FINE. The Board aren't the greatest when it comes to admin - I've had mistakes galore from their end over organising visits, examiners frequently changed at the last minute, but it has all come out fine in the end. They wouldn't just delete a whole day's exams - think of the loss of income and the fuss that would happen.. Relax, ring them on Monday to clarify and enjoy your visit!

PS. Your local rep sounds a bit of a twit - fancy saying something like that to you without checking first (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I think I've worked out what's happened... HLR has sent me the deletion sheet. She said on the phone 'All 23 candidates are deleted"... and I counted my candidate list and there were 25.
Then she sent me the list....... there are 2 candidates missing.... and they are the candidates added late!
A teacher had her pupils put on the normal session list even though she'd asked for my list and when her appointments came through- earlier than my appointment, she rang the board and got them transferred to my list. So, I imagine my list had been already drawn up but without these pupils on and then the whole list got deleted and they wrote a list out with these 2 candidates slotted in (but not at the end of the day). Then for some reason, someone found it and sent it to the HLR. She couldn't have been nicer about it all.....

At least that's what I'm hoping until Monday- would still like the examiner to contact me though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
