I find reeds in the most random place.... , with my mobile phone..... Maybe my phone wants to become a clarinet?

Maybe there is an app for it!

People are understandably elliptical about their location on what is after all a publically accessible forum that will show up entries on a search using any search engine.

Many generalise, like I do, others omit the informaiton entirely.

I work in IT: the one thing you learn very, very early on is to never make assumptions.

Technically I come under the West Midlands, but I live so far north in the region that I regard myself as North West (since places such as Manchester, Liverpool, even Bolton, are significantly nearer to me than Birmingham).

At some point I will offer to organise an event, it's the kind of thing I'd enjoy doing. However, the big challenge is finding a venue and I'd want to sort that out before going public. I'd probably be looking at Chester, south/mid Cheshire. When I have some ideas, I'll let you know and I promise to provide a good few months notice (i.e. 4 - 6).

We've done Chester twice, with two different organisational teams, but both at the same venue. I was heavily involved with Chester 2, in 2009 : I'll dig out the info in a bit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The Chester 2009 was my first event, and excellent it was too, also with a fine Steinway piano at that location (St. Marys Centre, Chester), but anywhere in Cheshire would be good for me.

nice, aren't those wheels gigantic?...Do you own a Steinway grand as well, Pix??

The wheels are teenie tiny compared to a modern car, lol. They are 14", the tyres have wide sidewalls, however. Tyres are original 70's style spec (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I wish I owned a Steinway ... LOL! Actually, I'd take a Bosendorfer Imperial, if we're being ostentatious (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

My old cars cost a lot less to buy than your average new car and a lot less to insure and maintain, as well, so I actually estimate keeping my 4 on the road is more like keeping 2 modern cars.

hmmm, now you come to mention it the thought of Frank Spencer in that Christmas Fairyland episode of SMDAE and 'our' Pixie have more dissimilarities than similarities. OK, how about Cherub*Porsche then?

fsharpminor has saved me a job there, that's the venue! Chester 2 attracted a lot of people (including Mad Tom who made the long journey from Holland!). Very central location, and the piano is indeed gorgeous! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I was a fairy in the Brownies and I didn't like that at all. Anyway it didn't matter much because my Brownie career was short lived. My mother was asked to remove me from the Brownies for bad behaviour. I still don't know what exactly I had done - but it must have been very naughty!

I can boast in my younger days being the proud owner of a Reliant Robin! It was dusky yellow, like Del Boy's one! I came out of work one day in Plymouth and found some vandals had trashed it and turned it onto its side. The police told me that it was Royal Marine cadets who did it (for a laugh) whilst they were out jogging.

The phone system has gone down across the entire site at work. I have actually enjoyed not having to answer a single call since 13:45 today.

I shall investigate St. Mary's Centre (don't think I've ever been there) and report back in due course.
