Having never performed at a music festival I have just done that!

An interesting experience and one to learn from.

The first class was quite overwhelming when I realised the standard of the entrants. However, I came away with a distinction and a mark of 82. The adjudicator was very good, with some very pertinent comments. However, I surpassed myself with the very complimentary remark from the adjudicator 'Elizabeth, I love your shoes, very stylish indeed'! LOL! I knew that having my 'colours' done fifteen years ago would be beneficial oneday!

I have to say that I feel that Sandwith and I did ourselves proud in the duet class this afternoon. We came second, with honours, only two points behind the winners (who really were the winners). This afternoon was a great time and I enjoyed the whole experience. We played in the Pittville pump rooms on a wonderful Steinway. We did ourselves proud and it was a wonderful experience.

So, all in all, I am pleased I took the plunge to play at the festival. I'd do it again but I think I would choose my pieces more carefully.

Very well done.

I too have entered my first festival, Hornsea in early July. 4 pieces in all. 2 solo categories and 2 accompanying a soprano.

I'll be pleased if I/we get anywhere near your achievement.

Well done Scotliz! It sounds like a really good experience. Were there many adults taking part? I'd love to do something like this too, but the idea of being the only adult up against a bunch of uber-talented teenagers frightens me a bit....
