Not at this moment in time but it doesn't seem that long ago. Well, 3 years ago for honours one, and the year after MMus (12 months - several dissertations totalling 45000 words) and dipABRSM teaching all at the same time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif) Not easy.

What are you writing about? I did mine on music therapy for the autistic child.

Not doing one currently, but having gone through the research masters and undergrad degree horrors I sympathise with you! Find a snack you like and keep a steady supply (I survived my undergrad finishing dissertation by the consumption of sesame sticks. Can no longer even look at them...and always think of them when listening to Britten's War Requiem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (subject of said dissertation). Hardly what BB was going for I think!)

Interesting topic! Have you thought of doing a survey and using that? I did a lot of survey work for my masters and got some very interesting results!

That can be the hardest part! Have you formatted as you worked (footnotes etc) or do you need to go back to them?

'Assessment for learning' would help the teacher plan lessons. When I did the City and Guilds 7302 Delivering Learning course we were shown how teaching and learning is like a continuous cycle of planning, teaching, assessing which feeds back into the planning again etc.

Re dissertations - good luck! I survived by always writing everything down ready for a lot of pruning and editing later. There is nothing worse than a blank page. At least you've got something to work with if there are some paragraphs and sentences to edit. I did my final year 16-18,000 words at the same time as the DipABRSM as well. I got the MA result the day before the dip exam so I was feeling very happy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I have never totted up all the words of the whole three year MA - I think I would get a shock if I did!

I have completed footnotes etc as I've gone along, otherwise I return books to the library and forget all about the footnotes.

I am, and I agree that it is very frustrating. Wish I could treat it like a full-time job and get it over with. Unfortunately, there are bills to pay, so I must spend more time and energy on teaching than writing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Good move. i have friends who used to just write down vague things (the book name and page number) but not all the other info required. They would inevitably end up in the library flipping out the day before it was due!

That's a difficult situation...I worked while doing my masters and took three instead of two years because of it. But I had a lot of fun (and got good experience) along the way, so it was worth it.

That's a difficult situation...I worked while doing my masters and took three instead of two years because of it. But I had a lot of fun (and got good experience) along the way, so it was worth it.

I wrote my doctoral thesis while working full time and got pregnant four times resulting in two children and two miscarriages. Not ideal conditions for writing a thesis but I finished it in the end (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

The worst thing for me was doing the index - if I ever have to do one again I think I will pay someone to do it for me (the index I mean not the whole thesis).

Yes... it's part of my degree, a project so I design and conduct an experiment myself and then write the dissertation on it. The title will be something like "Does musical key elicit a specific emotional state?". Currently performing statistical tests on the results...gaaah!
