Without having ever been to this event - Would a longer interval help? 60 minutes then 30 mins interval then another 60 minutes of playing? Please do ignore me if you're already doing that... there wasn't a programme on the website so couldn't tell.

The problem is that that each half is nearer to 80 minutes than 60.
I had 15 slots in each half. I can only manage a longer interval with less playing time.

How about an ever so slightly shorter maximum limit for each performance : 4:30 rather than 5:00? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks for the concert feedback in the envelope. It's good to know when I'm getting things right. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I've just been talking with one of the non forum people who attended and the only 'criticism' was the length of the concert. I'm aware that 15 slots in each half is pushing the limits a bit and would appreciate some feedback here about this. It's tricky to get the balance right between an 'ideal' length (between 45-60 mins each half) and going a bit over to allow more people to take part. I realise that there is a point at which it becomes a little unfair on those playing later in each half if this limit is exceeded as audience concentration tends to fade.
Please post your thoughts.
Well I guess I am the wrong person to ask. My concentration did not fade one bit, I thoroughly enjoyed every single piece that was played and I would be sorry to come all that way and get less music next time! I think it would be a bit restrictive to have less than 5 minutes as the maximum slot, so perhaps the only thing you can do is restrict the number of slots in some way, perhaps either a solo or a group piece, or fewer playing slots and as you do now, first come first served.

As already posted on FB. I think 5 mins slot size is the lowest you can reasonably go to, but 25 items or so is enough. As mentioned I was very tired before I started my solo piece two from the end, having already performed four times. But what a great event it was (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks Sbhoa for organising a wonderful event (and for your superb hospitality! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )

I had a great day=:

1. I got to the end of my piece pretty much at the same time as my accompanist - much to his help. Thanks Seer Green! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

2. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to everyone play - so many talented clarinettists! I also find it particularly enjoyable to hear again some people I have heard at previous events and hear how well their voice/instrumental skills are developing.

3. We had a great time in the pub afterwards!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party2.gif)

I felt the balance was just right - but then I only played once and in the first half, so was able to relax and enjoy the second half with no worries!!

Already looking forward to next year!!
