If you're going to send an iffy email to me purporting to be from the Alliance and Leicester, you could at least spell 'Leicester' correctly... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

That's quite amusing.

To be, or not to be: that is the question.

Is that there are no reasons why you should do something, a good enough reason for why you shouldn't?

You should do things purely because you want to. There's no sane reason for jumping out of a perfectly functional plane but I did it 3 times, for example (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Ooh, is it fun? I've always wanted to... I'm a wee bit of an adrenaline junkie, if a little bit of a chicken adrenaline junkie. I've only ever really been skiing... and paragliding... but I love rollercoasters! Especially detonator at Thorpe Park. The best ride EVER. Or saw. But detonator is amazing, because you feel like you're actuallygoing to die, and you literally can't stop yourself screaming, but then you hit the bottom and get a headrush and think "phoar, I didn't die!"

I'm thinking of doing bungee jumping for my birthday this year... if I'm allowed to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif)

What's skydiving like?

You're right, Detonator is the best ride for the initial "shock" at TP IMO. The rest of them just don't do that much for me.

I think someone else mentioned a while ago (tamsin?) that if you're at risk of retinal detachment, you shouldn't do it.

Wonderful, liberating, headrushing... the closest you can get to flying (well unless you get a wingsuit).

What's retinal detachment? The bit in your eye comes off from something? Ahh well, I don't think that would happen to me. I'm pretty healthy, apart from a dodgy kidney, missing teeth, eczema and blackouts. They would be ok, wouldn't they?

I'd love to go skydiving, my aunt went. I'm not old enough yet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) but aparently you can do indoor skydiving over an air chute... hmmm (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Sort of. If you have regular blackouts, they might not like you doing it.

Isn't skydiving the opposite of flying? If you were flying you wouldn't be in danger of splattering yourself on the ground. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Once you hit terminal velocity (well, close to it), it doesn't feel like you are falling anymore, hence "close to flying" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This is closer to flying, actually.. scary though!

I'm off to the airkix website (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Cheaper than a tandem, too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm tempted to do some time in there before I get around to doing AFF.

Where you jump out of the plane strapped to the front of an instructor (which you can't do until 16yrs old I think).

Dang. Oh well, only a year to go!!! In fact, because my birthday is in December, I'm going to be 16 next year, even though I'm 14 now. I've been going around telling all my friends/relatives that next year, I can legally have s-e-x. Ohh the looks on their faces, priceless (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

<snip>

It would have raised even more eyebrows if you'd said "legal, but not that it matters as I've done plenty of it already!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Do not say that btw unless you want to cause widespread panic!

And I have to be sensible by saying that just because something is legal, it doesn't mean you should do it for the sake of it, no matter what your peers say! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) That sort of conflicts with my earlier post about jumping out of planes but you get what I mean!
