Hi all,
I would like to learn a few Christmas songs to play over the holidays. I'm not so keen on carols, would prefer songs or a mixture would be nice either. I have been learning to play the piano for about a year - so am not a complete beginner, but I do need something pretty easy! Does anyone have any suggestions for a book I could use, please? Thanks! |

Have you looked at the Christmas book in the Really Easy Piano Series?
You may need some simplifying depending on how much you've managed to learn in the year. |

I've just ordered the carols book in that series on teacher's recommendation - they're not THAT easy apparently (G3 boy won't find them a cinch) but the teacher said this was the best book he'd found for carols. So probably the general Christmas one would be good as well (look on MusicRoom, you can see all the titles plus they usually have "scorch" snippets for you to look at the music and listen to them play as well). Hmm just looked and I may be wrong... |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/thanks.gif) I looked up the Really Easy Christmas Songs book and like the look of it, so have sent away for it! Hopefully I mange to find something I can play. I'd love to be able to manage Fairytale of New York by Christmas (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piano.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/xmas_tree.gif) |

This is my third year with the Christmas book, I dig it out at the end of November. Found it quite challenging at grade 1 but really getting into the swing of it now, so I think it's good value for money. Trying to rock the Jingle Bell Rock this year!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piano.gif) My teacher introduced me to the book and we started with John Lennon's Happy Christmas War is Over (So this is Christmas...), and the following year moved on to Jona Lewie's Stop the Cavalry. I'm working on the Christmas book alone this year as I'm concentrating on exam pieces in class. Have fun.(IMG:style_emoticons/default/santa.gif) |

Thanks for the suggestion for this book. I love it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yay.gif)
I managed to learn Stop the Calvery from it, and brought it along to my lesson and played through for my piano teacher. He pointed out a couple of things I was doing wrong, and I'm going to try another one for next week. Hopefully I'll have a couple of Christmas tunes to be able to play when I go home for Christmas (IMG:style_emoticons/default/santa2.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/xmas_tree.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/winter_angel.gif) |
