Has anyone had a go at the brain gender on-line test? It is quite interesting and doesn't take long to do. (Just google BBC male female brain test and it should come up). Apparently I'm neutral! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I've just had a go, and I'm almost neutral, but just slightly towards female. Mind you, I'm not sure about some parts of the test. For example, just a slight movement of the ruler changes the length of fingers, and my ability to type words completely abandoned me. I suspect that the word test would have accepted any sets of characters, regardless of whether they made real words!

I might have a go again and tell the test I'm the opposite ###, just to see what happens!

I'm neutral too. I blame all the puzzles I do that I can find in newspapers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hmm. My score was affected by the first question opening another screen and disappearing. By the time I'd got it open, half the test had run! I still got an average scoe fo rthat one though...

I'm somewhat left of neutral, apparently.... at least according to the score on this occasion!

If the brain quiz is to be trusted then I am extremely male, especially good with problems of spatial orientation, but miserably unobservant of "landmarks" and not very empathetic in general.

It seems you would not get much comfort from crying on my shoulder, but at least I would be able to read the map that gets you to a more useful counsellor.

However I scored an unexpectedly high 9/10 on interpreting eye-signals.

I wonder how many subjects this was tested on to ensure that the results are valid, and how the "calibration subjects" were selected.

Here's a bit more information
http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/###/articles/results/ The smut filter might take out the three letter word that refers to gender (between body and articles).

Edit - yup, it has.

Well, I'm a bit female it appears, and husband is a bit male. Very interesting- though am a bit suspicious of the spatial awareness one that I did quite well in through largely good luck and guess work- especially as I am one of the people they mention who has to hold a map in the direction she's travelling in!

I've got a female bias. So much for Simon Baron-Cohen's pet theory!

About 25% Male bias.
Was interested with the right/left thumb on top thing as it came out as left brain dominant when I thought that left handers were more right brain.....

I'm mostly female, though I aced the rotating shape thingy. That was luck rather than judgement, as I lost patience trying to work them out and just guessed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) And I'm either not very empathetic or very much so, according to answers to different parts of the test.

Yes - I had that too. But I've been told that I'm rather mixed when it comes to left/right...

Thank Goodness, now I know that if I ever meet someone who's rotated their eyeballs inside out I'll still be able to work out what emotion they're expressing.

But I won't be able to tell them, and I'll probably forget where they were.
