This weekend I am starting my search for a new violin. I am expecting it to be a long and tiring process but quite exciting at the same time.
I hope that whatever violin I end up with will last me many years to come. I have set aside the following budget: Violin: 6k GBP Bow: 2K GBP - I will be keeping my 550 GPB as a good quality back up/spare Case: ordered today and paid 338 GBP including the postage charge. Living in London means I will have a choice of many string shops to go to to try out lots of instruments. Hopefully I will fall in love with a violin soon and own a beautiful sounding new instrument before the new year. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I remember the vast choice over something like a clarinet, when I used to play viola - don't anymore and want some more time to dedicate to it if I do start again! |

They have just e-mailed me to say it will be 7-10 days before they get the case in stock. I am inclined to wait as is the one I like the most out of the ones I have looked at. |

If anyone knows any other suitable places I can visit let me know. I like Ealing strings. They have so much choice and they'll get loads out for you and leave you as long as you like in a practice room with no pressure. You won't get out of there in a hurry though, that guy can't half talk! Have fun (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
