My kitchen has been invaded by grade 1 woodwind players warming up for their exams. I may have to run screaming from the building.

It could be worse - they could be string players... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Yes, I've had those too! Last week it was really hot and sticky and they were sliding about all over the place. The teachers must be saints.

I've just spent half the afternoon, and most of yesterday, trying to sort out the storm damage to my phoneline/internet. Tiscali were supposed to phone within 48hours but haven't.

So far, I'm back online but it's like swimming in custard trying to get answers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

(not that I have ever swum in custard... yummmm)

We have a nice shiny drum kit in the exam room, but no-one ever seems to do percussion exams with AB here. Percussion I can cope with - I can 'tune out' the things I'm used to, but squeaky things rally grate on me!

I think I know the shop you mean... if you go into the photos of me on facebook, you will find a picture of the offending book. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Tiscali really are about as much use as a waterproof teabag. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Wouldn't they struggle to ring you back if the phoneline is broken? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Today I was in a bookshop in an Outlet shopping Centre. I noticed a manuscript book in the music section. It was a nice hard-backed, spiral bound book, nicer than the normal type. When I looked inside however (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) I saw that every single page had about 8 staves of manuscript paper. Each stave consisted of 4 lines and 3 spaces, so it wasn't really manuscript paper!

For violin/viola/etc tabs maybe?

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Why, when you practise something really thoroughly for several hours and it's clearly much improved does the recording sound even worse than yesterday's?!?! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Because you were tired by the time you recorded it, and it therefore didn't show up all the improvements as well?

I find that my tone and things go if I've got tired, regardless of which instrument I've been playing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

As for Argh: Now I'm trying to speed up, my left hand is refusing to play some parts at full tempo while the right is absolutely fine... Grr... I think I need to do lots of LH scales practice as they would help in this case I think... (J.F.Burgmuller's Arabesque).
