Virtuoso Group: Members Posts: 2554 Joined: 13-October 04 Member No.: 2318	Viohiazard always enjoyed singing the Erlkonig - years of violin and guitar have given him fairly strong wrists, but I doubt if he could play it nice and evenly on piano! I think a book of Schubert songs will be purchased, and Du bist du Ruh and Der Musensohn have been noted (especially the latter as he has already noticed that he likes Goethe lyrics, although of course in this case he is not studying the voice part). He has some Tosti scheduled for next term's voice lessons, so those piano parts might repay some summer study too. Bellini songs...he should have piano parts for some Bellini songs (Malinconia?), so that is definitely a good and practical suggestion, thank you. Step one, however, is to convince the cat to get off the piano stool which she regards as her summerhouse. By the way, not piano, but I came across some classical guitar/voice songs in English by John Duartemaybe he could talk his piano tutor round (or maybe NOT!).

Virtuoso Group: Members Posts: 2554 Joined: 13-October 04 Member No.: 2318	Hmmm...the Schubert/Wolfe collection was dumped in favor of Russian songs and Steve Reich, on the grounds that he would start German next year, but der Musensohn was downloaded and Schubert songs in anthologies he has on hand were checked. What came home apart from the Russian songs was: - Prokofiev Two Poems ("It was marked down, Mum"!) - Anthology of English Baroque and Renaissance songs - Two books of clasiical guitar accompaniments, one for Italian songs, the other for 6 Schubert lieder (accompaniments arranged by Mertz, a gem!). What was inspected but mentally marked for next time: Duparc more Schubert Spanish songs...very interesting stuff there.
