Thanks everyone. There is just a limit to what one person can cope with at one time and I've just hit it.

This, England, is a cricket ball.

If you hit it with your bat, you get runs...

91 runs scored, 7 batsmen out. Australia need three more wickets, and then England are all out.

England have now lost another wicket : 98 runs scored, 8 batsmen out (lost their wickets). When two more batsmen lose their wickets, England will be all out, then Australia will have a bat.

I'm not a big cricket fan myself, but this is a shocking display by England it has to be said...

(IMG:http://www.cricketgames.co.in/wicket.jpg)

One of these. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There are several ways you can be out - bowler hitting wicket with the ball (bowled), batsman hitting ball, only for the ball to be caught by someone (caught), batsman being hit on the leg, preventing the ball from hitting the wicket (lbw - and I know it's a bit more complicated than that, cricket afficionados!) being arguably the three most common ways of getting out.
