Minor scales, why would the harmonic minor be more important?
...And just when you think you know it goes up one way and down the other, some ignorant twit like Mozart will write something which goes the other way and, maddeningly, it'll sound OK. Edited to explain how to add quotes from other threads: While I am here can anyone enlighten me about how to get a quote from another thread into this one? In words of one syllable please? 1) Click Reply in the thread you want to quote.2) Copy and paste the thread name above the text you are quoting (Ctrl C/Ctrl V). 3) Highlight and copy (Ctrl C) the quote and thread title including the opening and closing [ quote ] and [ / quote ] tags. 4) Navigate to this thread and click reply. 5) Paste your quote (Ctrl V). 6) Delete any part of the quote that you do not need. |

Teacher illness Socrates kept on teaching while being executed. Maybe that's the precedent the parents have in mind. Yes, I saw that one, great (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

This one is from a while ago, but I have only just seen it:
Aaaaaaaaaggghh - The Scream Thread! A friend of mine used to wear a pair of his wife's tights under his trousers when working outdoors in very cold weather. He reckoned that they kept him warmer than a pair of thermals. Well, that was his excuse anyway. Anyhow, he was unfortunate enough to have a mishap one day, which needed a visit to A & E for some stitches in his leg. He tried to explain his logic to the nurse who helped him undress, but she didn't seem at all convinced by his argument. |

Why do young kids do this?
Mine don't turn round and look at me - maybe I'm too ugly! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Why do we spend so much time on note names so early?
I had a class of six year olds last year who were learning recorder and who muddled si la and sol on the stave until I introduced Monsieur SImon, Madame LAra and their daughter SOLange - drawn on the stave with appropriate hats. The principle has now been internalised and they don't need the prompts any more. |

Remaining upbeat...
My (very accident prone) pupil has just gone off on a skiing trip. His piano exam is in 4 weeks. He averages 1 A & E visit per year. What is the statistical likelihood of him coming back in one piece? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

How to stop a pupil apologizing every 5 seconds?
Oh, and I've just spent a good few minutes staring at the word "floccipaucinihilipilification" , trying to work out how to say it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) (Want to have it mastered, ready for my next mistake! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) |
