I watched the final of the ice dancing last night - did anyone else think Beth Tweddle's version and performance was better than the T and D original?

Not sure about that - I did think it was better than Matt's though, and I'm very pleased she won.

I hope she realises how good she is and takes it further. I don't know how the panel managed not to cry - it was just gorgeous!

Well, wasn't it step for step the same as T&D (except I think it was a lot shorter)? Part of what makes it good must surely be in the expressive choreography

Not to detract from Beth's achievement, but I thought Matt's whole night was head and shoulders above hers. Sorry all you Beth fans (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

His routine made me feel really uncomfortable watching it, because it looked as though he was flinging a piece of meat around - he seemed quite angry. I couldn't see any evidence of the connection the judges talked about

No, they were told to start on their knees, and end on the ice, but in between was their own choreography. I think that Beth put in more nods to the original than Matt.

I think that Matt deserved to win, and Luke should have been kicked out at or before the semi-final.

I'm glad that Beth won, but I think she probably knows that she didn't earn it.

I think Beth was technically more accurate but Matt was much more of a performer. I'm glad Beth won but they both deserved to be in the final!

I often wonder what would have happened if the Kerr siblings had won the gold medal in Vancouver three years ago. Would the producers of Dancing on Ice have hurriedly rearranged the final such that the contestants had to skate to Linkin Park's Krwlng?

Pretty much sums it up accurately, and probably isn't much of a surprise considering Beth is a gymnast and Matt an actor. On balance, Beth deserved to win, in my opinion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

When I first saw the title of the thread, I was expecting to see a photo of a kind of mini-jacket, and the question underneath - 'what do you think?' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I really enjoyed watching that. It did demonstrate just how far from "Olympic Standard" the celebs are (unsurprisingly).
