My sincerest thanks to you all on this thread for your welcome messages of sympathy following Dad's passing at the age of 95

The "farewell" has taken place.....if any such occasion could be described as "lovely" then this day (Wednesday was so......with the accent on love.

40 friends mostly from Blackpool Keyboard Club gathered on a warm and sunny morning, Mum (and I) were comforted by words from a wonderful Minister, and then the party moved on to a superb buffet at a local hotel.

88 year old Mum has been MARVELLOUS so far, and seems to have taken things in her stride, realizing that Dad had enjoyed a long and interesting life, although, we both say with intrigue that the old rascal has taken some secrets with him!!

I hope her strength continues and she will be able to look forward to the summer - J and I have many outings planned to keep her occupied.

My thanks again to you for your thoughts and consolations

I will re-join you soon WITH RENEWED VIGOUR !! very soon

x
d

"have I missed any gossip" - typical (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Ermmm Trebor and Cheeble got married, Cheeble got a composition of hers played on Radio 4.

It sounds like you're doing a wonderful job too, and I am sure your Mum really appreciates all your support (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Good to hear from you again diapason. I'm glad that everything went well on Wednesday. You and your mum sound as though you're both doing very well with coping, and I hope that this continues. Be prepared for the smallest craziest things to suddenly upset you though - my stepsister died in September 2004, and my stepfather copes well most of the time, but every once in a while something will trigger a memory and he realises just how much we've all lost.

Whatever you do, never lose sight of all of the great times you had with your dad. There will be difficult times - birthdays, anniversaries, first Christmas without - but keep your chin up. It sounds like you've got a great support network up there, and we're only a PM away over here.

I think nicki_flute and Car Expert have filled you in on most of the gossip, but there's probably more that I've forgotten about.

Let me know if any of your grand adventures are likely to bring you anywhere near Surrey - you still owe me a posh afternoon tea (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I'm really sad to hear this, Diapason, I am thinking of you. I'm glad to hear you Dad had an interesting life, however, and quite a long life too!
