Just thought there might be need for a non-controversial, frivolous, fun thread (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Anyone want to tell us if and how they'll be bringing in the New Year? We are going to a family friendly non-profit event at a venue local to us. We each contribute food and pay ticket costs of only around ?3 a head to cover costs. I'm looking forward to it and using it as an excuse to dress up a bit in new dress, shoes, jewellery and take with me a new bag (all Christmas Presents) And if we are home by half ten to tuck the kids in then so what? We'll have a glass of wine and watch any fireworks at midnight before turning in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Going to Stratford to see Matilda at the RSC with kids. We went to Arabian Nights last year and it was fantastic. Fish and chips on the way home....

I'm playing trumpet in a social club. Hoping not to have a repeat of last year where somebody fell into my trumpet whilst it was attached to my lips, loosening my tooth and splitting my lip (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
Occupational hazard sadly but I'm bringing some friends to the gig so hopefully we should have a good night (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party1.gif) |

Sleeping I am afraid.
I have to get up at 5 am on New Year's Day to go and clean. We have an unbelievable amount of work on New Year's Day - so many turn arounds of rooms and huts not to mention the cleaning up of the New Year's Eve party! |

Mostly at home, then down to the square to watch the live bands from 10pm and catch the firework/music/laser display with the kids and our bottle of bubbly

Going to Stratford to see Matilda at the RSC with kids. Soooo Jealous!!! I love Tim Minchin who wrote the music for it... going to see him live with an orchestra in April... As for New Year, i'll probably be sitting in my jammies and going to bed early... lol. Not a party person, and actually not a fan of New Year... Makes me too reflective and depressed... But will be having a wee drink anyway and watching Jools on tv until i fall asleep!! |

Going to the cinema and then coming home and drinking champagne to see the new year in. My children are old teenagers so will spend their evening in fancy dress and out with friends. We've been ill over Christmas with flu so don't feel up to joining a big event, I know this makes me sound like a party pooper.
Hope everyone has a great time, however you are choosing to celebrate it. |

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I have always hated New Year too.
So I'll be tucked up in bed, muttering 'Bah! Humbug!' to myself... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

I'll be seeing the new year in with some of my former coleagues from school and I have been asked to take a pudding! I'm not much of a chef so it will be a bought cheesecake with added fresh raspberries and cream. Don't we have a forum party here?

We're off up to Waterloo to see The Railway Children. Anyone else already seen it? Then back home to drop Musical Maniac off for a party. I never seem to have the stamina/inclination to stay up until midnight myself. I'd much rather sleep - despite coming from a family who think I should stay up to greet the dark haired man who's supposed to arrive on the doorstep with a lump of coal at midnight.. I think it goes something like that..

I think its a lump of coal and some bread brought in by a tall dark handsome stranger; the coal symbolises keeping warm all year, the bread symbolises having plenty to eat all year and the tall dark handsome stranger symbolises tall dark handsome strangers.
