Can anyone recommend some nice saxophone duets that are anywhere from grade 5 up to 8? I had a look on the saxtet website but there are only two books and I have one of them (Double Vision Duets by Chris Gumbley).
Any suggestions, in any styles, gratefully appreciated (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Edit: I found "Saxophone Duets Book 2" on the astute music website, which is about the right level - does anyone have this and what's it like? Thanks. |

Well those are the two places I would recommend trying - I don't have the pieces though, so can't really comment, except that the Apollo Saxophone Duets were written by people who really know what to do with a saxophone! Another possibility would be some of the Lennie Niehaus duets if you're open to something with a bit more of a jazz flavour. I do have some of these and would place them towards the upper end of the level of difficulty you're looking at - I know I can't sight read one part on it's own and have to put in a fair amount of effort to be able to play it. I can usually make a fair stab at sight-reading Grade 5 standard stuff. |

Something jazzy is what I was hoping for. What's the name of the Lennie Niehaus book? Sounds interesting.
