Some fool went to buy piano accompaniments for songs, and came home with the complete score plus CD for Steve Reich's Different Trains . Some fool knows other violinists and a cellist, but doesn't actually know anybody who plays viola...so either some fool has to buy a viola and suck an unwary violinist friend into the vortex, or find somebody who plays viola and talk them into it.

Has anybody played it? Does anybody else like it? Can anybody believe HOW MUCH this thing costs, even in the bargain bin?

No, but I'd love to...

I'm not surprised that it would cost a fortune, for some reason!

No, I'm not surprised it costs a fortune either. Does the CD have the train sounds and the voices on it, or is it just a recording of the piece complete?

I adore Different Trains, have done since I first heard it about 20 years ago. It still makes all the hairs on my arms stand on end. I've never played it but I would jump at the chance to do so - except if I remember correctly you are not exactly local to me. But if you happen to be visiting the West Midlands with your parts, do message me!
