Harrumph for having a migraine. When I get them, I'm often bothered by two of light, sound or movement. So I might be able to sit somewhere quiet and read a book. Or if light and sound are bad, I end up cleaning the entire house because there's nothing else to do. Today it seems all three are a problem. Which is annoying, because there is so much I could be doing. I've got a book to read for my OU course, but I can't focus/concentrate on reading. I could clear and turn one of the veg patches, but I can't do that sort of movement. I've got more music than you could shake a stick at to play, but I couldn't bear the noise. And so on... I know, I shouldn't be at the computer screen, but there's nothing else I can do, and I'll only be here for five minutes... Aww you have my sympathies (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I've had migraine since I was eleven and it's taken various forms. Now it's at the stage where I get the 'aura' and become incredibly sensitive to light, movement, and sound but I don't get the pain very often! It's a strange sensation; unpleasant but not painful (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) I think the pain has stopped because I'm on brain-medication and a prophylactic specifically for migraine and the combination seems to work. Chilling out in a room with subdued lighting works. I sometimes watch TV with the sound off.. more relaxing than staring at text on a screen...... *tuts at you like a mother*... There is a pitch war going on in my workplace over a loo.
One dept is trying to claim it as their own because they use it as a changing room. Our dept has used it since the building went up in the 1960s. One person from our dept reported to the cleaners that it needed attention - now a sign has gone up saying ###### Staff Only. Any problems contact #####. Talk about threatening! This place has very inadequate facilities but there is no point complaining because there is literally no room to incorporate better ones. I wish I worked from home! |

I just went to ask my supervisor a question and he seemed in a really annoyed mood. Probably because I asked him a very stupid question (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

It's a strange sensation; unpleasant but not painful (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) I think the pain has stopped because I'm on brain-medication and a prophylactic specifically for migraine and the combination seems to work. Interesting...when I first got migraines, it was visual-aura-only, about twice a week. My GP at the time said nothing to worry about - the swirly lights would come, 20 minutes or so later they'd be gone, and that would be that. A few years later it was probably four times a week, and I started to get the headaches with it. When I had one that had me off work for four days, I went to my GP - who was a different one by this time. And he was utterly horrified that the other GP had said nothing to worry about, and played about with my meds. I then went to two or three per year, but knocking me out for the best part of a week. Then, they started to get more frequent but less long-lasting. When it got to one or two a month - but only lasting a couple of days - my GP played with meds again, because I was getting worried about the amount of time I was having off work! Now I'm at 3 or 4 a year, lasting 3 or 4 days. But now I sometimes get them without aura, which I find really weird. Oh well, feeling much better if not-quite-right today. Will probably be back at work tomorrow due to boredom (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Grrrrrr
Two sisters commissioned a painting from me as a present for their brother. I spent a lot of time discussing it with them, sending them copies of pictures, answering email after email.. etc. Now one sister has gone with another artist 'because they're cheaper' and apparently that's it settled. I know that 'pitching' is part of my job but I've never had anyone change their mind like this before at the last minute and I'm really cross at the waste of my very precious time! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (I hope they 'get what they pay for' because I'm not the most expensive artist by a long shot!) |

Programs running fine until about 3pm yesterday.
Programs went bonkers. Programs fixed this morning whilst being nagged by the QC group that they are ready to start QC. QC group start once I have done a complete run and all programs are working fine. QC group can't get their data out. I go and look and do a complete run on *their* data rather than *my* data. Programs go bonkers. Error message of no help whatsoever; same problem as this morning which I've just fixed but is complete back again...now have no idea what is going on! ARGH!!! |

ARGH! again!
Why won't people enter *valid* data? Program yesterday went bonkers because it couldn't cope with certain values that had been entered. In the 'real-life' data they are restrictions, and this field can only be entered as unique a six-digit numeric. But in the test data, we had some non-numerics, and some numeric-duplicates (not seen as duplicates by the system where it was entered, because they were entered as 1, 01, 001, etc, but the system extracting does see those as duplicate. Which wouldn't be an issue if they had been entered as six digits, i.e. 000001) |

Argghhhhh I've just admitted on an open internet forum that I have OCD (see the 'Music Geek' thread) Well we can't fail to see it now, lottie - you've even told us where to look! Never mind - I don't think I'm any wiser because I don't know what you are obsessive about. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm just in a filthy mood for some reason - actually plenty of reasons but they're not very interesting. |

Arggghhhhhh
Something has just fallen off the roof! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) I heard it roll down just now. I hope it's not a tile because it's pretty windy. Perhaps it was a bit of mortar from the ridge... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) must get the roof looked at this summer. Maybe I should live in a Wendy House instead of a very old cottage (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) oh crumbs, maybe a magpie lost its footing! |

It was just a bit of the chimney mortar so we will get it all looked at soon.
GRRRRRRR I ordered a VIOLA bridge this week and they've sent a violin one. I'm really cross because other people always seem to make stupid mistakes like this and I really wanted to fit that bridge this weekend. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) |
