Tho I don't think this thread will stay for long.... A bit like my Strange Websites thread (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)Car Expert And my forums thread ... The AB don't want to link up or lead to sites where they can't guarantee the safety and validity of them. So although these threads seem like a good idea at the time, you can see the mods' point of view when you think about it ... |

Hmmm, do we need to be mummied though? surely if you have the ability to access the net you can decide for yourself which sites will be harmful.....Chernoble kids isn't exactly a dreadful site though is it? |

surely if you have the ability to access the net you can decide for yourself which sites will be harmful Yes, sure, you can access whatever sites you like - but I think the AB take the view that it is not the purpose of this forum to provide the means to do it! There are a lot of under 16s on this forum - parents are happy for them to come on and teachers are happy to recommend it because they believe that it is an environment which is as safe as the mods can make it. I daresay that most of the links which people put up would be harmless, some may even be useful, but the mods obviously cannot check every link in order to verify that that is the case. So they would rather err on the side of caution and not provide the means to access web sites which may potentially be inappropriate in some way. But then I'm only going by what the mods told me when they deleted my "forums" thread. I might be completely wrong, and the thread hasn't disappeared yet .... |
