Hi! Does anyone knows of a good experienced piano teacher in Hong Kong?
My 4-year old daughter seems to have some talent in piano ... and we think it's quite a pity to let it die. She's able to play 4 pieces through seeing her sisters practise. And she also managed to figure out the scales on her kindergarten music book and now learning to play the songs that she is singing in school. All these without any teachers, formal training or pushing. If you know of any experienced teachers who is willing to do home visits to North Point, Hong Kong please let me know. We have tried a few young teachers found through the internet but most of these are too young and inexperienced. Therefore, I think someone who has kids of her/his own and has success with talented kids will be great. Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers Jean |

that is one of the most bizarre statements I have heared in a long time. Why would it make any difference if the teacher has children of their own??? Are you looking for a nanny or a teacher? |

I suspect the OP really means "more of a motherly kind of person" (of either gender (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) |

Dare I suggest trying to contact the ABRSM rep in Hong Kong? You should be able to find their contact details somewhere on the ABRSM website and, if it's anything like our area of the UK, they will have good local knowledge and contacts for potentially suitable teachers.
Given your daughter's age, enquire also about whether there are any good Suzuki piano teachers in HK - they will be especially used to bringing out the best in younger children right from the start. |

Dear Minstrel <<contact the ABRSM rep in Hong Kong?>> do you mean the group that administers the exams? If yes, this is done by a government body and I don't believe they will be administering a list like this. Anyway, I will scout around and see what I find. Thanks a million and thanks for the tip about the Suzuki method! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Jean |

I know nothing about them but I have looked into the British Suzuki association before so thought there must be an international or other regional groups. http://internationalsuzuki.org/ |
