Watching The Bridge with half an eye -not good, I can understand "OK" and "No" but for the rest I have to touch type this and read subtitles on the TV. A bit too much multi-tasking methinks at this time of night. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Having my first sit-down today!

I was up at 6.30. Beginners' orchestra at 9 where I played sax. Main orchestra at 10.30 for cello. That finished at 1.30. Home for 2.30, some lunch. Quick sor tand then back over towards Chester for audition - (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) for a new concert orchestra that's being set-up. I doubt if I'm good enough, but the MD was keen that I should have a go (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) .

Had to play two pieces (I'm a tadge short of repertoire)... then I was given a piece of Haydn to sight read (reckon I got off lightly as the horn player (whom I know) got Richard Strauss to sight read! There again,m he's a more advanced player than me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I have never played solo cello for anyone - ever (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I got there at about 5.40. There were two in front of me - I think I went in at about 6.45. Got home about 8.

Pooped. Got a full day of singing tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Wow - that's great!!! I have one local orchestra and I'm not going to that just now (complicated).

Wish I had more playing opportunities - on my own all the time just now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (hopefully when my playing improves I'll be able to seek out some others for chamber music.....)

I'll join the club, Cyrilla. I'm afraid Monday's workload has the same effect on me at the moment.

More (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grouphug.gif) from me to you both.

Not that I'm feeling much better. Feeling like I need a complete life overhaul.

Sorry to hear that - I take it you're in a fairly rural part of Scotland? Here, there's a fair amount within 30 minute drive of home (say 25 miles) and a substantial amount within an hour's drive (say 50 miles). For example, 30 minutes gets me to Shrewsbury, Chester, Telford, Warrington, Northwich, Middlewich etc. An hour gets me to Liverpool, Manchester, Stoke, Stafford, Newport (Salop) etc. Most of these have at least one or two instrumental things - concert orchestra, rehearsal orchestra, chamber orchestra, community orchestra, string / wind ensembles etc.

A bigger challenge for me is when they meet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Or, I'm not good enough yet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
