latest favourite food - a whole avocado sliced, drowned in garlic oil, with salt and pepper. Satisfies all my cravings for salty garlicky stuff and isn't too bad for me (err, I hope)

Conversation with another mother this morning - consoling ourselves that at the end of a day it's so easy to feel you've achieved nothing if you haven't ticked something off The List. So she had the bright idea that we mothers "do" Maintenance - ie if we weren't there to do the things we do for the family in general chaos would ensue.

So by the end of today, as well as teaching 6 lessons I shall happily think of myself as having done "Maintenance". Good thought. Am going to adopt it as a philosophy of life. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Good thought!

And of course brings to mind that story which I'm sure you've heard: dad comes home to a chaotic, dirty house, with rubbish everywhere and the three kids running riot. Dirty washing up piled in the sink, dirty washing all over the floor, toys absolutely everywhere. Concerned, dad goes in search of mum and finds her reading in the garden.
'What on earth is going on?'
'Nothing!' (with a smile) 'Everything's fine'.
"But the mess and muddle everywhere - why?'

'Oh, well you know you always say you wonder what I do all day?

Well today I didn't do it'.

Excellent. Might put that into practice one day as well (not just at the moment - suffering A2 stress, and finals stress (long distance by phone and fb))

I have a Hibiscus plant on my window sill. It's a stringy, woody plant that some people would have thrown out I'm sure but very few weeks for the last couple of years it opens one glorious large bloom in the most gorgeous red-orange sunsetty colour - each one the size of my palm! Each flower only lasts one day then closes, withers and falls off and after a while another bud forms.

I've been waiting with bated breath this week because it has FIVE buds all at once!!!

Today it has THREE blooms open (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It's SO beautiful!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

(I know I should paint it but I don't paint flowers... although I have in the past (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) )
