Whatever it was infesting my ear has now exploded and suddenly my face has stopped hurting... Feel a bit weird though... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Still, no longer in agonising pain so that's cheered me up somewhat.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/thereThere.gif) That sounds awful, Solari! Have you been to the doctor's? If it's that bad, you might need antibiotics to clear it up.

Glad it's feeling better at the moment, anyway.

Thanks, both of you! I feel much better now actually and would rather avoid antibiotics so I'll see how it goes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

OK - hope you continue to feel better. I'll shut up after I tell you to watch for meningitis symptoms (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) sorry, dad's a doctor, had it drilled into me that ear infections can sometimes migrate. You know yourself best.

I would like to say "take care" but after the discussion on the pedants' paradise thread, I am now worried that the pedant police will come after me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

QUOTE(lilly763 @ Feb 6 2011, 05:23 PM) *

I have spent too much time being stressed and overwhelmed this past week, but now I'm going to reflect on the good things:

1. It's sunny and above 40 degrees!

40 degress in the middle of winter? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) How hot does it get in the summer? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) It hardly ever gets up to 40 degrees here even in summer, and I'm glad because I start to wilt once it goes above the low 20s. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I'm guessing that might be 40 degrees Farenheit!

Good guess Tsax (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) My American brain thinks in Farenheit - sorry about that! That would translate to about 5 degrees C, which is positively balmy for this time of year around here... It occasionally gets up to 40 degrees C in summer here, but not often and I wouldn't be happy about it! I think we do generally have a wider temperature range here though - our "normal" weather ranges between -5 in winter to 35+ in summer.

... and a wider range probably even within a single day. One day in Boston it went from 30 degrees (translated to Celsius for the benefit of the audience (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) at noon to 15 degrees at 2pm. It was a sunny summer day, then this odd cold wind started blowing and before we knew it, clouds & rain. Other half was not best pleased, as he'd come out to class in shorts because it was 30 degrees. I've never seen (felt?) that happen here.

Hope you continue to improve, Solari.

For me, one of my young and promising pupils who has tuned in again after a really dodgy few weeks.

My teacher is away next week (sad) but

1. I save ?60 on 2 lessons (DD and mine) when money is quite tight
2. I have a new adult rebeginner starting violin next week after the enquiry today
3. I have 2 of my teacher's students booked in for sightreading and aural lessons instead of their lessons with him (with his blessing, of course) - possibly more to come!!

Is that Boston Lincolnshire or Boston USA?

Temperatures here in the UK tend to be influenced and stabilised by the sea which surrounds us, and especially by the warm Atlantic Gulf Stream. Temperatures in the middle of a large land mass tend to fluctuate much more wildly, as can be seen by high summer / mid winter temperatures on the continent when compared with temperatures here in the UK. Likewise the highest and lowest temperatures in the UK are usually recorded well away from the sea.

Having said that, onshore breezes from the North Sea can easily depress summer temperatures by 10 or 15 degrees C within a mile or so of the coast.

I would fourth that. I would go and go now!

SB Junior had a nasty ear infection which resulted in a perforated eardrum. Thankfully the damage wasn't permanent, but he had difficulty hearing for two or three weeks.

Get well soon.

What's made me happy today?

......... Oddly enough, a long overdue visit to the Dentist. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I had been putting it off for far too long, making every excuse under the sun, until last week I plucked up the courage to walk in to the surgery to ask for an appointment. I felt like a fugitive handing myself in! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well, today was the day of reckoning, and whilst I need to have some work done, it is nothing like as bad as I had feared. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(I will save the (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) until my treatment is complete!)
