You can buy a new bridge and pay someone to set it up for you, or you can try and put your old bridge against the new bridge and draw the outline on the new bridge, and then cut the new bridge so it is the same height and shape of the old bridge, cut 4 slots and replace the bridge. The last time I had a new bridge I paid £10 to have it shaped and fitted, that was about 5 years ago. The size and shape of the bridge is dependant on the height of the finger board so I am told. You can buy a cheap bridge for about $12 (Australian dollars) but they can go up to about $40 (Australian dollars). I normally get my teacher to put in a new bridge in but it is better to a professional to do it so they can make it the right size, etc. It may cost about $30 (Australian dollars) to get fitted.

Depends what the instrument is worth as to whether you go for a student quality bridge, or a good quality French bridge made by a company such as Aubert. The charge for having it fitted will also vary, depending on whether you go to a specialist luthier or someone who does general instrument repairs. My advice would be to seek advice from a lutheir first, rather than just handing it over to a general music shop. A good and reputable luthier will not charge for giving you an estimate on the cost.
