Really enjoyed my first attempt at accompanying! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

You did well, Solari. You made my job playing the flute very easy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Grand Day Out: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Up at 5:45am, 25 minute walk to the station, train at 7:30, 1h 15min walk to the Music Room(s) taking in the London sights - couldn't quite see over the wall that advertised 'Skateboarding & Archery Park'; dying to see it in action (as might the participants be!). Lovely weather. Couldn't see over the wall into Lord's Cricket Ground either - must grow a few inches more! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Home bang on 11pm! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

Oh, and inbetween, much jolly music-making on various flute/recorder-like instruments, cello, Fazioli grand piano and ...... a CLAVICEMBALO!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Canons to the right of me, canons to the left! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Much Largo imbibed and a few visits made by 'my aunt' (ma tanto)! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Fine contributions from all; as usual, nice to put faces to forum-names. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So much ensemble-playing that I didn't have to 'use up' my Baroque pieces, so they're still ready and waiting for another Day. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks to Sol' for organising the day and allowing me to try out my Bach P&F on an unsuspecting audience. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

QUOTE(Solari @ May 22 2010, 10:06 PM) *

Thanks to all for coming, it was fantastic to see the familiar faces and to meet a few new ones (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I'm relieved it went well after what was a chaotic and stressful week! Sorry if some of my posts seemed a bit panicked and abrupt beforehand, I'd not aranged anything like this before and it got to me a bit! The tuner got delayed too which nearly ended up in more panic, but he did a great job (Keith Piper - will use him next time!)! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I'm off for a few beers now to unwind. Phew!

I love that harpsichord, I really want one now! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Really enjoyed my first attempt at accompanying! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Sounds like you did an excellent job Sol, Well done.

I promise I won't make four flautists and two recorder players work from one book next time.....
Well you did say it would be cosy! I stood at the back to (a) let the ladies go to the front, and (b) to avoid poking out the eye of a recorderist with my flute, but the biggest problem was that heads started getting in the way (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . But as my glasses weren't really focussed on the notes, I played what I thought seemed reasonable. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I know I sent my thanks via KJ too - but just wanted to reinforce that. I'm still on my train home at the moment, with a bit of a wobbly internet connection and a very wobbly netbook, grabbing this chance whilst I can.

It was a lovely mix of instruments and music - I think we had far more fun than the poor quaking individuals perched uncomfortably in the corridor outside, waiting to to their Trinity exams...there was lots of laughter, an incredibly accepting and relaxed atmosphere, and the result was some really nice music too. Solari needn;t have worried - we were by no means barrel-scraping for musical ideas at the end, and filled the time and space with ease. I definitely think something like this would be worth doing again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).

Thank you everyone for a really lovely day. I would definitely do a repeat of something in that sort of format. Great to have the opportunity both to peform and play together.

Very envious indeed. This sounded like great fun... well done all!

It sounds as though Solari should be encouraged to repeat his organisational talents... and maybe one of these years I might be able to join you.

Hope so katica, an oboe would have been an excellent addition to the mix (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
