The B piece..I really liked...erm I think it is quite an expressive piece..so I used rubato and make sure the you get the dynamic contrasts in,
The C piece..I gave up with because I just couldn't do it..I was getting nowhere. I've not done the exam..my old teacher wanted me to, but I refused so I've not played the pieces in ages |

Mozart, Gliere, and Johnny Meghan. Thinking of substituting Beethoven in list A.

I'm doing the Mozart Allemande, Esquisse and probably the Little White Donkey, or possibly Carousel...
...when I get round to actually doing the exam that is. Still not able to practice for enough time to make progress, and scales will kill my hands again! |

But I love it! Don't think I could carry it off in the exam though... I'd be so nervous that I'd hit all the wrong notes! |

Hi
Myexam is on Tuesday and I'm playing A5 - Beethoven Sonata in Eb B3 - Des Abends C6 - Le Petit ane blanc There seem to be millions of scales - I wrote them all out on slips of paper with all the various permutations ( RH / LH/ legato etc) and had a huge pot full. Picked them out at random 20 day to do! I'm at that stage where, in a funny sort of way, I'm looking forward to the exam as I'm pretty well prepared. Now it's just the exam nerves to overcome ... bananas .. more bananas |

QUOTE(CrazyDudette22 @ Nov 4 2005, 08:22 PM) Can someone help me choose a C piece please...I don't really like the ones in the book but I haven't heard the alternative pieces! Thanks... Don't do the Bartok - it's horrible! Too much dissonance for my taste and no discernible melody as far as I can remember (I borrowed it from the library ages ago so memory is a bit hazy). Carousel is nice, but I think that to do this in the exam you have to be the kind of person who doesn't get nervous at all... (unlike me *sigh*) The performance direction for it is "as fast as possible", making it technically a lot more difficult than it looks. Also, it changes time signatures lots and has a very painful glissando at the end! Still love this piece though. I adore the Little White Donkey! It's quite a fun, light-hearted piece and the melody at the beginning is so pretty. The most difficult thing is probably keeping the repeated staccato semiquavers in the left hand really quiet as they have to be pp and then ppp later on! It's also in F sharp major, which is quite scary to start with, but you get used to it. Hope this is vaguely helpful and good luck with choosing! :) |
