So I've been fiddling around again and sort of come up with something quite simplistic (4th piece so far) but still quite moody in most parts. Some of it doesn't quite work IMO but I'll get round to fixing that. Sibelius playback... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Constructive feedback would be nice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Failing that, you can call me random names (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Thanks for listening (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Bleh, and another one. Bored...

http://solari.adsl24.co.uk/5-fsharpmajor.pdf

Slight undertones of the Russian National Anthem for some reason at the start but nevemind. A couple of bars will sound better with chords rather than the arpeggio to give a bit of separation but that's something I'll do later.

I'm going to give this throwing notes together stuff a rest for a bit now (going off the boil a bit anyway) so I can get on with some practice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Wow, all of your pieces are so varied- where do you get all of the great ideas from?
Could you post the PDF of these two tunes- I'm going to have a go at playing them!
Keep composing- you're great at it!

Er, I usually wake up with a short phrase in my head or something, or I just get into a bit of a funny mood and just mess around with ideas until I can expand it enough to make a piece (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I have so many short ideas saved now it's getting stupid, I don't know how I'm going to get the time or inclination to make them all into something (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Hum PDF? OK.. piece 4 - I will PM you the URL.

PDF for the other one is obviously above, I didn't post an MP3 for that as it was late and I'd just finished it.

I've not done much editing so it's a bit scruffy... might not want to hit the accents quite as heavy as in the MP3 (they were used to get it sounding right through my clav for Sibelius playback). Pedal obviously to keep things smooth. Sparingly in bars 37-44 though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I think I'll give posting these things a rest for a bit as I feel like I'm spamming the forums with this stuff now and I think people will soon get irritated with me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Cheers!

I'm just a student so constructive feedback is a bit limited, I'm afraid. But my personal reaction is that I thought the second half developed well - I was a bit unsure about the start, to me it seemed a bit bland (?) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) but then it started getting more interesting about half way through and I ended up really enjoying it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Cheers all.

I know my left hand options are a bit limited at the moment as I'm just starting out and don't really have that much exposure to different stuff. I think playing Einaudi stuff has got my brain a bit stuck on the ideas of never ending quavers of doom so I should really have a think about what other options I have (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I think perhaps I will revisit these pieces in a few months when I've had a bit more exposure to different pieces of music, different composers, and also more theory study to draw ideas from (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

dcmbarton - thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it - you didn't mention which piece but it seems you're talking about the F#Maj one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I will definitely adjust that and have a listen. Do you think I have many options for making the start of the other piece more interesting without making it too complex and hence losing the mood?
