(IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) If there are no warm-up facilities there will be a seriously angry letter to ABRSM!!! There isn't a musician ON EARTH who doesn't need to warm up!! It's insane!! (I mean on their own - I understand a piano might not be available. But I remember as a kid warming up my clarinet in a freezing toilet - hardly suitable and I was hoping the ABRSM had sorted that out by now and used more appropriate venues!)

There are three ABRSM test centres near me. One has a lovely warm up room (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) , one has a piano that can be used, but the piano is also in the waiting room (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) and the third has no warm up room, unless you count going out into the garden (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I miss Blackheath...

Well deduced, willobie (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

For the ABRSM-ers amongst you - date publications... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

hmm...well, I don't want to worry anyone, but they aren't exactly sticking to that time table. Just got my date today - 14th November. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

I have just twigged that means I only have 2 lesssons before my exam. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/eek.gif)

PS: meant to add - good luck to Lottie and everyone else taking exams this session.

Doing grade 5 flute (IMG:style_emoticons/default/eek.gif) . Slightly nervous (ok... I admit it...v v nervous!), as did grade 4 in '99!

But, it's going to be fine!!! Pieces are going pretty well, know almost all of the scales (whether I'll know them in the exam is another matter altogether!)

I have that problem with scales too. I learnt them really thoroughly (or so I thought) for Grade 5 flute, but nearly every one had a false start on the day!

Now I have a date for Grade 6 flute (23 November). Whilst checking, I accidentally clicked on a link about exam dates, and note that under the calendar, they now say that times cannot be changed, or swapped about between candidates. This is a disaster for me, because my time is 9:27, and at that time of the morning I may be there in body, but definitely not in spirit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ill.gif)

Edit: Just seen there is a whole thread on this....

Mysterioso, where is that thread you mentioned?
I'm having to beg and pray I can get cover at work, as the time and date is not possible for me as things stand. I wish they could be a bit more flexible for adults. Should I be cheeky and ask anyway? I'm really worried I won't be able to do the exam now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

woo-hoo, sorted, I can do it!
....Huge surge of nervous adrenaline to deal with now at the thought of the exam situation, and it's still a month away......

In the teachers' forum, thread entitled "Changes to ABRSM exam regulations". But you can do it now, anyway - that's good news! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Glad to hear you managed to get it sorted, good luck in your exam.

My exam date is fortunately on a day I can take off, there were certain days in the exam period that I wouldn't be able to so I was very relieved. But being the start of half term, both my accompanist and teacher are away on holiday! I have texted my accompanist but it is not unreasonable that she is either out of range or doesn't have her work diary with her. So I may not find out till Monday whether she can do it! So I still have that worry to deal with this week. I think the time off work scenario is always an added worry for adults - it isn't always so easy to take a day off with only 2 or 3 weeks notice.

I had a dream last night that I broke my only working reed in half at the start of the exam...not that I'm getting stressed about it or anything... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif)

Good luck to everyone else too, hope the last few weeks of prep go well.

Thanks Flobiano. Love the signature re Grade 8 piano and scales in 6ths... there is hope! Actually the scales are chugging on nicely . Fingers crossed for no interruptions this time. Pieces are OK if I hold my nerve. I've changed two out of three.

Kate the thread is in the teachers section. It appears some forumites have received emails about not changing running orders. When I received an email from the board I nearly paniced, but it contained the date for my grade 8 and my only candidate this session (other than me)'s Exam appointment.

I can just about do the scales in 6ths for C, D, B and F# both majors and minors but now trying to learn F minor and it is making my head spin! Glad you have managed to sort them out.

Which pieces are you doing this time?

Just got my date for LTCL Recital - Friday 9th Dec mid-morning.

Double-gulp.

But at least it's a lot more than 3 weeks' notice - boss will be pleased.
