Interesting discussion. Would it not be easier to modify the score sheet to have optical reading section on the right where the marks are entered? The examiner would still write the report as before and would "shade" the marks in addition to writing the marks. The candidate number can also be shaded in. At the end of the day, send all the mark sheets to HQ by post. The examiner can retain a carbon copy, just in case the mark sheets are lost! At the HQ, they will just have to feed the marksheets to a scanner. The marks and electronic copy of the report can be uploaded to the database automatically. Job done! You can get the results under two days, you still get to see the hand-written report and the sanctity of the exam room will not be disrupted by tapping! I would think this would be cheaper than providing laptops and maintaining them. Come off it. That is far too sensible for a bureaucrat to ever agree to. |
